Zion Lutheran Hot Lunch Program
Zion Lutheran School offers a hot lunch program to our students. Meals are contracted through Pierce Public Schools.
Zion Lutheran School and Pierce Public Schools participate in the National School Lunch Program for our lunches. You may qualify for free or reduced meals for your children. To obtain an application or for questions regarding this program, please contact the school office at 402-329-4658 or in person at 520 E Main Street, Pierce. The USDA and Pierce Public Schools are an equal opportunity employer.
Meals need to be ordered no later than 8:30 am. If you would like to join your child for lunch, please call the school office before 8:30 and we will order a meal for you. Meals for non students or adults are billed at $4.00.
Zion offers a snack milk program. The milk will be billed at $.50 per 1/2 pint. Zion Lutheran does not participate in reduced price milk programs. Apple and Orange Juice are also available for $.40 per 4oz.
A copy of the Wellness Policy is available for public review in the Zion Lutheran School Office. The Staff, Board of Parish Education, and the School Nurse review the Wellness policy, generally before the school year begins, on a yearly basis. This policy is referenced in the Annual Student Handbook that is handed out to all new and returning students. Parents of students and the public who are concerned with health and physical activities of the students of Zion Lutheran School, are encouraged to contact the school principal with any questions, suggestions or concerns in regards to this policy.
In School Snacks and Parties
Students are allowed to bring a 'healthy snack' for the classroom milk break. For classroom parties and special events like birthdays, please remember that not all parties need cupcakes. Plan the event with your teacher. Zion maintains a separate health and wellness policy which is required of every school in the state. No child is to bring pop or candy for a snack or lunch or we could lose state funding for our lunch program.
